A Library IELTS speaking part 2 cue card topic with sample answer

  • Where was the library?
  • What facilities does it have?
  • Why you went there?

Sample 1:

Today, I’d like to talk about the library I used to go to when I was in college several years ago πŸ“š. Since it was a private school, the library was quite small, but I think it had all you needed to have a successful life as a student. The facilities included a computer lab πŸ’», a writing lab ✍️, a section with cubicles for self-study πŸ“–, and an area with large tables for group discussions πŸ’¬.

And if you needed more privacy, they even had small rooms where students could get absolute silence 🀫. There were several reasons why I would go to that library. First, it was right next to my dormitory building, so it only took me a few seconds to get there πŸ‘£. Second, before a test, I would go to my favorite spot in the library to study.

That spot was in a corner of the third floor and next to a large window where I had a bird’s-eye view of the school campus 🌳. And third, I would go to the library to do research and find sources of information for my research papers πŸ”.

Although relatively small, I think this library was quite useful for me because I could find all the necessary materials I needed throughout my school years. I also made use of its writing lab very often because they had people who could take a look at my work and give me feedback.

That was particularly helpful since English was still a language I wasn’t very familiar with. All in all, this library played an important part in my life as a college student, and I wish I can visit it again sometime in the future!

Sample 2:

I visited a library recently after coming to London πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§. It’s located in Eastham. It looked small from the outside, but to my surprise, it was very huge when I got in 🏒. There were 2 levels in it. The ground floor itself was big.

On one side, there were books based on stories with facts and fictions πŸ“š. The other side had books related to business, sports, encyclopedias, and many more πŸ“ˆ.

There was also a small seating arrangement made in the entrance of the library, with a number of different daily newspapers and magazines for people to read πŸ—žοΈ.

The 2nd floor was very interesting because that had stuff which I was looking for. I basically went for checking if there were any medical books which would be helpful for my career 🩺.

I had made a list of books with the authors’ names so it could be easy for me to look for them. I was very glad when I went to the 2nd floor of the library where I found a number of medical books and a few books which I had on my search list as well.

It was very easy for me to locate the books as there was a computer which accurately made me find the location of the book inside the library when I typed the book with the authors’ name. It was indeed useful for me as the library was located close to where I was living and there were a few books I needed as well.

Sample 3:

Well, mem/sir, a library is an accumulation of books and different sources of information πŸ“šπŸ’Ώ. Earlier, libraries only housed books and magazines, but today’s libraries have a wide range of modern sources of information like CDs, DVDs, and the internet apart from books 🌐.

Here I am going to talk about my school library. It is a big library and has around 5000 books 🏫. Our school principal was very particular that all students go at least once to the library.

Thus, we had a library period once a week πŸ“…. We could also get books issued once a week and return them after a week. There were magazines and all sorts of storybooks, novels, and academic books πŸ“–.

It was a very nice experience to be there amidst all sorts of books. This also encouraged our overall reading habit πŸ“š. This library was very useful especially when we needed to make projects for our arts and science fairs πŸŽ¨πŸ”¬.

I remember, once I had to prepare a project on global warming 🌍. I got all the material from the library. The library also had two computers with internet connection πŸ’»πŸŒ, enhancing our research capabilities.

Follow-up Questions:

  1. Why is the library important?
  2. What facilities do you expect from a library?
  3. What type of book do you like to read? Why do you like them?
