Intro

  1. Well, India is one of the oldest civilizations of the world. It has long history. There have been numerous historical events in India. However, here I would talk about an event which was a landmark/milestone in Indian History.
  1. It was actually a movement. It is called ‘Quit India Movement’. It was lead by ‘the father of the nation’ Mahatma Gandhi in 1942 against the British rule. Billions of Indians participated in this movement.

Significance

This movement has a special significance.  It was an incredible movement in lot of ways.

  1. First of all, it was a peaceful agitation and based on the principle of ‘Non-violence’. There was no act of violence, no bloodshed, no killing and no damage to the public property.
  1. Another unique aspect of the movement was that for the first time a large number of women and children also participated in a movement.
  1. It actually showed the power of common man to the world. The people of every cast and creed, every culture and religion were involved in it. This was a lesson to the world that if common people get together for a noble cause then nobody can stop them from achieving their goal.
  1. After this movement the British realized that they can be no longer in this country. Finally, they had to make India free in 1947.

Therefore, this movement has a great significance in Indian History. It was indeed a history changer.  People still get motivated and inspired by this movement. Thanks
