   An easy way to learn active passive voice in the English grammar

What is a voice?

The voice of a verb tells whether the subject of the sentences performs or receives the action. There are two types of Voice:-

1.Active voice

  1. Passive voice

Active voice:-     The subject performs the action expressed by the verb.

Passive voice:-  The subject receives the action expressed by the verb.

Rules of conversation from Active to passive:-

  1. Identify the subject, the verb, and the object.
  2. change the object into the subject.
  3. Put the suitable helping verb.
  4. Change the verb into past participle of the verb.
  5. Always add the preposition “by”.
  6. change the subject into the object.
  7. Always use the verb 3rd form in the passive voice

   There are Eight types of Passive voice:-

1.Simple Present Tense

2. Present Continuous Tense

3. Present Present Tense

4. Simple Past Tense

5. Past Continuous Tense

6. Past perfect tense

7. Simple Future Tense

8. Future Perfect Tense

 

1.Future Indefinite Tense:

Affirmative Tense Rule of Active Voice:-

                                      subject+ will/shall+ verb1st form+object.

                    Affirmative Tense Rule of Passive Voice:-

                                     Object+ will/shall+ be+verb 3rd form+by+subject

Examples:-

Active Voice:-I will finish my work.

Passive Voice:-My work will be finished by me. 

Active Voice:-We will play a football match.

Passive Voice:- A football match will be played by us.

                   Negative Tense- Rule of Active Voice:- 

                                       subject+ will/shall+not+verb1st form+object.

                  Negative Tense- Rule of Passive Voice:- 

                                       Object+ will/shall+not+be+verb 3rd form+by+Subject.

Examples:-

Active Voice:-       I will not finish my work.

Passive Voice:-    My work will not be finished by me. 

Active Voice:-      We will not play a football match.

Passive Voice:-   A football match will not be played by us.

   Interrogative Tense Rule of Active Voice:- 

                                   will/shall+subject+verb1st form+object+?

                                                < Wh>+will/shall +subject+verb 1st form+object+?

 <wh> family:- what, why, when, where, who, whom, whose, which, and how.

Interrogative Tense Rule of Passive Voice:- 

                      Will/shall+object+be+verb 3rd form+by+subject+?

                      < Wh>+will/shall+object+be+verb 3rd form+by+subject+?

 <wh> family:- what, why, when, where, who, whom, whose, which, and how.

 

Examples:-

Active Voice:-          Will I finish my work?

Passive Voice:-        Will my work be finished by me?

Active Voice:-          Will we play a football match?

Passive Voice:-        Will a football match be played by us?

     Interrogative+ negative:-Rule of Active Voice:-                                                                                  Will/shall+subject+not+verb1stform+object+?

                         <wh> family:- what, why, when, where, who, whom, whose, which, and how.

                         <wh> family:- what, why, when, where, who, whom, whose, which, and how.

 

Examples:-

Active Voice:-          Will I finish not my work?

Passive Voice:-        Will my work not be finished by me?

Active Voice:-          Will we not play a football match?

Passive Voice:-        Will a football match not be played by us?

 

3. Future Perfect Tense:-  

               Affirmative Tense Rule of Active Voice:- 

                           Subject+will/shall+have+verb 3rd form+object.

          Affirmative Tense Rule of Passive Voice:- 

                          Object+will/shall+have+been+verb 3rd form+by +Subject.

 

Examples:-

Active Voice:-I will have finished my work.

Passive Voice:-My work will have been finished by me. 

Active Voice:-We will have played a football match.

Passive Voice:- A football match will be played by us.

 

     

           Negative Tense- Rule of Active Voice:-

                         subject+ will/shall+not+have+been +verb 3rd form+object.

Examples:-
