Nowadays We Are Producing More and More Rubbish

Nowadays we are producing more and more rubbish. Why do you think this is happening? What can governments do to help reduce the amount of rubbish produced?

Sample answer 1:-

The amount of garbage is increasing day by day as compared to the last few decades. There are numerous reasons behind it, which I will elaborate on in the following paragraphs, and suggest some ways how to control this problem.

The first and foremost reason is overpopulation. Due to this, the demand for food and other things is increasing, so manufacturers produce more to fulfil society’s desires. As a result, they set up a large number of industries that contribute to litter production. Moreover, nowadays, everyone wants to live a modern lifestyle, so they prefer packed food rather than cooked food. In other words, processed food is mostly packed with boxes or plastic to attract people. When someone uses these, then they help to raise more scrap, which will have an adverse effect on the environment as well as on human beings.

This problem has become a serious concern nowadays. If individuals and government both collaborate with each other, then this problem will be solved. Firstly, individuals should use eco-friendly bags instead of plastic bags and home-cooked food instead of packed food. Secondly, the government should enact some strict laws to use biodegradable products as well, and a huge penalty should be set for those who sell non-biodegradable bags. Last but not least, if the waste product can be recycled or reused, that will definitely help save the environment.

To put it in a nutshell, I pen down saying that the increasing rate of population and standard of living is the main cause of more rubbish. However, it should be controlled if individuals and governments cooperate with each other.

Sample answer 2:-

I think it is true that in almost every country today, each household and family produces a large amount of waste every week. Most of this rubbish comes from the packaging of the things we buy, such as processed food. But even if we buy fresh food without packaging, we still produce rubbish from the plastic bags used everywhere to carry shopping home.

The reason why we have so much packaging is that we consume so much more on a daily basis than families did in the past. Convenience is also very important in modern life, so we buy packaging or canned food that can be transported from long distances and stored until we need it, first in the supermarket and then at home.

However, I think the amount of waste products is also a result of our tendency to use something once and throw it away. We forget that even the cheapest plastic bag has used up valuable resources and energy to produce. We also forget that it is a source of pollution and is difficult to dispose of.

I think, therefore, that governments need to raise this awareness in the general public. Children can be educated about environmental issues at school, but adults need to take action. Governments can encourage such action by putting taxes on packaging, such as plastic bags, by providing recycling services, and by removing households and shops that do not attempt to recycle their waste.

With the political will, such measures could really reduce the amount of rubbish we produce. Certainly, nobody wants to see our resources used up and our planet poisoned by waste.
